  • Britons are losing their grip on reality, according to a poll out Monday which showed that nearly a quarter think Winston Churchill was a myth while the majority reckon Sherlock Holmes was real. The survey [also] found that 47 percent thought the 12th century English king Richard the Lionheart was a myth.

I always thought in his later years he looked like Yoda.

But he was still one helluva guy.

Churchill, that is, not Richard. The Holmes thing though... well, America's about as bad.

What the bloody fuck?

And yet the BBC is the one taking surveys in America to measure our stupidity?

Britain doesn't deserve Churchill.

I'm lost without the sig divider.

Time and again, Ray, I've proven that it's you who has a warped and ignorant view of history.

As has G-man, in what he refers to as "Ray-facts".

Regarding the British, I quoted a poll several times a few years back, where a majority of British citizens were proud of their imperial past, but didn't know much of anything about it. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 % didn't even know that the United States was once a colony of Britain.

You can thank the liberal education system in Britain, that has virtually eliminated education about Winston Churchill. And as is the problem with education in the United States as well, it is an attempt to re-write history as part of multicultural social engineering, to destroy British nationalism and knowledge of their national identity, and indoctrinate them into a revised version of history, where they are ingrained with the notion that they are a racist society with a shameful past, that has to endlessly pay tribute and weaken itself, to pay for its past imperial/racial sins.

When the truth is, while there were injustices under the British empire, and other European Empires, the legacy of European colonialism in Latin America, Africa, India, China, Singapore and elsewhere, has been a net gain for their people.

The United States was never a colony of Britain. The United States of America were formed after this territory was independent of Britain.

always about liberals with you, huh? even when it's another country where "liberal" has a different meaning, it's still the same evil conspiracy.

but you actually have shown a poor knowledge of American history, mainly in the way that anytime something negative, but true, is brought up you talk about liberal revisionists trying to undermine America.
