Remember when you were a kid and had the time to finish every game you played? Remember the satisfaction of finally beating a game after weeks or months of trying?
Portal brings all of that back. All by simply cutting out all the boring crap and keeping all the kick ass parts.

To put it simply it’s a 3D puzzle game involving portals that transports you (or objects) from one to another.

It expects you to be intelligent. It challenges you to think differently. It encourages when other games insult. There are no drawn out tutorials here. Instead of frustrating you with a boring plot and useless repetition it uses humor and awesomeness to keep you going.

The difficult curve is perfect. I never got to a point where I didn’t have some idea as to what I was supposed to do. I cheated by looking at youtube once for an early level and felt like an idiot for not thinking of the answer myself. Everything builds off of something you’ve learned in previous levels. If you feel like you’ve spent too long on one puzzle you’re probably over thinking it.

Valve says it takes an average player five hours to beat the game. I know it took me longer due to me sucking at puzzle games. After you beat the main game there are additional challenges and a commentary mode, something more developers need to incorporate into their games.

I’ve heard that Valve is the PC version of Nintendo. Up until this game I never thought that could be true. It’s not really spoiling anything by saying that fans of Metroid and Zelda will really enjoy some of the last challenges in the game.

This game comes in the Orange Box, a collection of the Half-Life 2 series, Team Fortress 2 and Peggle Extreme in the PC version. There’s been a lot of problems with the PS3 version so I would suggest going for the PC or xbox 360 version. You can also get this game separately on steam for $20 but its worth it to just buy the everything.

Valve is overrated.

Why? Because every single game they've made aside from Portal is overrated. Half Life simply does not deserve all of its hype. Counterstrike perhaps since, at the time, it had more multi-player features than any other game, but as a game it was basically generic. Not even Team Fortress did anything new aside from look cartoony.

I'm lost without the sig divider.

That might be the nicest thing you've ever said about anything.

You've obviously never played Team Fortress Classic.
I'll admit that HL2 didn't live up to its hype.
Then again, did Halo 2 or 3?

Don't get me wrong, I loved it, it just isn't as good as I expected it to be; you have to realize I was one of the people who bought the original BEFORE it became popular.

... To give you an idea of how long ago THAT was, I was under 15 and I bought it myself; nobody stopped me or said I was too young.
