Just saw the movie in 3D! Good, but not great. The movie is dragged down by its 'social commentary' plot of the evils of corporate greed and war, yadda yadda. Cameron didn't even put any work into that aspect of the script. It comes off as very cliche to the point that I could say Giovanni Ribisi's lines before he did almost verbatim. The other part of the movie, the outsider becoming one with the natives, was actually very good. Very Dances with Wolves/A Man Called Horse. Though I did see many of the events in the movie were coming from a way off. It was essentially a very basic story wrapped up in a new sci-fi shell.
The FX were amazing. It really was a very vivid, beautiful world. The 3D worked very well. It wasn't just for shit flying at you out of the screen like the horror movies they're doing now It actually gave you a sense of depth in this world.
I did find it odd that every creature on this world evolved with 'hook ups' so that the Navi could link up to every fucking creature in existence, both plant and animal; but that wasn't anything that kept me from enjoying the film. I accepted it and ran with it. Nothing was said about unobtanium's (goddamn that's a horrible name) ability to restore the Earth as many reviews have suggested. Maybe that was part of the press release info, but it wasn't in the film as I recall. Just that the shit was expensive. I'm sure that reference was removed from the movie because if it could save our dieing world, no matter how cliche ridden the dialogue or evil mustache twirling Ribisi did would make him seem evil. Just maybe misguided. With it being all about money and greed, though, he's a regular Satan/George Bush.

It tends to put you immediately at a disadvantage and IMO is a sign of true weakness.
This is true both in politics and on the internet."
