I've watched the first season of it. But, I fell out because it looked like it was going down a path of no progression. Does the show move forward at all, as far as why he's been burned? Should I push into Season Two and give it a chance?

Shanks is in the last few episodes of season 2, so I'm guessing that you're Netflixing those episodes right now.
